Upon your arrival at Lao Cai station, you will be warmly greeted by your local guide and driver. Following a brief transfer to a local restaurant, you have the option to enjoy a hearty breakfast before embarking on your journey to Bac Ha. As you cross the Bao Nhai Bridge, the anticipation builds for your visit to the Bac Ha market, renowned as one of the largest in the region. Every Sunday, this vibrant marketplace comes alive with various ethnic groups, including the Hmong, Phu La, Back Dzao, Tay, and Nung, who gather to sell their handmade products and purchase goods for their families.
After an enriching morning at the market, you will savor a delightful lunch at a local restaurant, experiencing the flavors of the region. In the afternoon, we will drive downhill towards Lao Cai, a journey of approximately thirty minutes. Before reaching Lao Cai, we will make a stop at Trung Do village, home to the Tay people. Nestled at the foot of a mountain or alongside a stream, Tay villages are typically named after nearby natural features. Each village comprises around 15-20 households, often divided into smaller hamlets, with traditional houses built on stilts or at ground level.
During your visit, you will have the opportunity to stop by a traditional Tay house for a warm cup of tea, allowing you to engage with the local culture. Following this, you will embark on a serene boat cruise upstream along the Chay River, where breathtaking scenery unfolds on both sides. This tranquil boat trip culminates at the Bao Nhai bridge, where your vehicle will be ready to take you back to Lao Cai, concluding a day filled with cultural immersion and natural beauty.
