Bako National Park

Bako National Park, the oldest national park in Sarawak, serves as an ideal gateway to the region's lush forests and vibrant wildlife. Nestled at the northern tip of the Muara Tebas Peninsula, the park is accessible via a scenic half-hour coach ride followed by a delightful 30-minute boat journey. Spanning 16 square kilometers, Bako is a treasure trove of primary forest, showcasing an impressive array of 25 different types of vegetation, including the fascinating carnivorous pitcher plant.

The park's mangrove forests are particularly noteworthy, providing a sanctuary for the iconic Proboscis Monkey, a species endemic to Borneo. Visitors may also spot Long-Tailed Macaques, Silver Leaf Monkeys, Monitor Lizards, and Bearded Pigs as they traverse the park's numerous trails. Along the way, several indented sandy bays offer inviting spots for swimming and relaxation amidst the natural beauty.

A local lunch will be served at the park canteen, allowing guests to savor the flavors of the region. After a day of exploration and discovery, return to Kuching in the afternoon, enriched by the unforgettable experiences of Bako National Park.
