Your guide will greet you at approximately 7:00 AM at your hotel in Yangon, ready to embark on a memorable journey. You will be transferred to Pansodan Jetty, where a short local ferry ride across the Yangon River will take you to Dala, the gateway to your cycling adventure. Upon your arrival, the cycling tour commences, leading you through charming village streets and verdant rice fields, providing an authentic glimpse into the daily life of rural Myanmar.

After cycling for about 1.5 hours, you will arrive at a junction on the Dala–Twante highway, continuing your journey toward the Baung Daw Choke Pagoda, famously known as the 'Snake Temple'. This unique site offers a fascinating insight into local culture and spirituality. Next, you will visit the Shwe San Daw Pagoda, the third tallest pagoda in Myanmar, standing proudly after the renowned Shwe Maw Daw in Bago and the majestic Shwedagon in Yangon.

Your cycling path then leads you to the Twante pottery village, a vibrant hub of traditional craftsmanship. Here, you can explore numerous workshops showcasing the intricate techniques of pottery-making, and perhaps find a perfect handmade souvenir to take home. As your cycling adventure draws to a close, your bike truck and private vehicle will be waiting to transport you back to Yangon, near the Dala new bridge. Finally, you will be transferred back to your hotel, concluding a day filled with exploration and cultural immersion.

Destination Information

Twante

Twante is a township set amid a network of canals and waterways that shape its low-lying landscape southwest of Yangon. The area is distinguished by its blend of rural and artisanal life, where traditional pottery workshops line the banks, reflecting a long-standing craft rooted in local clay deposits. The canals not only define the physical layout but also support agricultural practices that remain central to the community’s daily rhythm. Markets here offer insight into local commerce and produce, providing a window into the township’s economy and social interactions. Unlike the urban density of nearby Yangon, Twante presents a more relaxed pace, with open spaces and waterborne transport contributing to a distinctive spatial character. The combination of handcrafted ceramics, waterways, and farming activities creates a tangible connection between the natural environment and human enterprise, making Twante a place where traditional skills and rural livelihoods are visibly intertwined. This setting offers a grounded perspective on regional life beyond the city, framed by its waterways and artisanal heritage.

Dala

Dala is a town where history and everyday life coexist along the banks of a gently flowing river, shaping a distinct urban fabric marked by narrow streets and traditional architecture. Its compact historic district reveals layers of craftsmanship and community, with buildings constructed from locally sourced materials that reflect the region’s agricultural roots. The riverfront promenade offers a calm public space where residents and visitors mingle, framed by views of surrounding farmland that extend into the horizon. This agricultural setting influences much of the local economy and culture, visible in the markets and workshops that line the town’s streets. Textile production remains an active part of daily life, with small workshops preserving artisanal techniques passed down through generations. Throughout the year, the town’s cultural festival brings together these elements, showcasing local traditions and crafts in a setting that balances heritage with the rhythms of contemporary life. Dala’s character emerges from this blend of historic preservation, artisanal activity, and its relationship to the surrounding landscape, offering an experience grounded in tangible, lived-in spaces rather than grand monuments.
