Meet your guide at your hotel in Sandakan or upon your arrival at Sandakan Airport, setting the stage for an unforgettable wildlife adventure. Your journey begins with a visit to the renowned Sepilok Orang-Utan Rehabilitation Centre, the largest sanctuary of its kind in the world. Here, you will witness the heartwarming feeding of orphaned and injured orangutans from a platform nestled within the lush forest, offering a unique glimpse into their rehabilitation process as they prepare for life in the wild. To enrich your experience, a 25-minute documentary will provide insight into the lives of these remarkable creatures.
Following your time with the orangutans, you will proceed to the Borneon Sun Bear Conservation Centre (BSCC). This vital facility is dedicated to the care, rehabilitation, and eventual release of orphaned and captive sun bears. As you learn about the conservation efforts aimed at raising awareness of these fascinating animals, you will discover that the Malayan sun bear, found exclusively in Southeast Asia, holds the title of the world's smallest bear species.
After a delightful lunch at a local restaurant, your adventure continues as you head to Labuk Bay. This expansive mangrove forest, covering approximately 400 acres, serves as a sanctuary for the elusive Proboscis monkeys. At the observation area, you will have the rare opportunity to observe these unique monkeys up close, marveling at their distinctive features and behaviors, all while surrounded by the serene beauty of their natural habitat. As your tour comes to a close, you will return to your hotel in Sandakan or be transferred to Sandakan Airport for your evening flight back to Kota Kinabalu.
