Excursion Highlights

Natural Dyeing Class

In the morning or shortly after lunchtime, you will be warmly greeted and picked up from your hotel by tuk tuk or Songthaew. Prepare for an enriching afternoon where you will delve into the fascinating world of dyeing techniques that have been cherished for centuries and passed down through generations.

During this immersive experience, you will have the opportunity to engage hands-on with various dyeing methods. Utilizing a selection of different plants, you will create a vibrant spectrum of colors to naturally dye your chosen textiles. This is not just a class; it’s a captivating journey into the art of natural dyeing. You will gather plants and bark from our garden, and as you crush roots, seeds, and leaves, you will follow traditional dye recipes that bring the colors to life.

At the end of your workshop, you will leave with your own set of naturally-dyed items, such as napkins, a t-shirt, or a scarf, each a testament to your creativity and the skills you’ve learned. This experience is perfect for solo travelers, families with children, and groups of friends looking to bond over a unique activity. Notably, the scarf you will create is now an impressive 1.80 meters long, an increase from the previous length, and the class now includes a delightful cotton spinning demonstration.

After your enriching class, you will be taken back to your accommodation, allowing you the rest of the afternoon or evening to enjoy at your leisure.

Destination Information

Luang Prabang

Luang Prabang is a city where the flow of the Mekong and Nam Khan rivers shapes both its physical layout and daily life, creating a tranquil environment marked by traditional wooden houses and French colonial architecture. This former royal capital retains a quiet pace, with narrow streets lined by Buddhist temples and markets that reflect its blend of spiritual and cultural heritage. The city’s compact scale encourages exploration on foot, revealing layers of history visible in its well-preserved temples and the Royal Palace Museum, which offers insight into its monarchical past. The surrounding landscape, including nearby waterfalls and forested hills, provides a natural contrast to the urban calm. Early mornings bring a unique local rhythm as monks participate in the alms ceremony, a practice deeply woven into community life. Luang Prabang’s appeal lies in this combination of serene river settings, historical architecture, and ongoing religious traditions, offering a setting where visitors can observe the coexistence of everyday activity and enduring cultural practices.
