Cycling Through Imperial Hue
Begin your day by meeting your guide at your hotel in central Hue, where the adventure starts with a leisurely cycle along the picturesque Le Loi Street. As you cross the historic Truong Tien Bridge, immerse yourself in the vibrant atmosphere of Dong Ba Market, a lively hub where locals gather to shop for fresh produce, aromatic spices, and various household goods. Continuing your ride along the scenic Dong Ba River, once a royal route for the Nguyen kings, you will eventually arrive at Bao Vinh, a former trading port that thrived as a bustling commercial center.
Your journey takes you through lush green fields and tranquil villages, leading you to the magnificent Imperial Citadel, constructed in 1804 in accordance with geomantic principles. Here, you will have the opportunity to explore its impressive palaces, temples, and ceremonial halls, all designed in the style of Beijing’s Forbidden City, while gaining insights into the history of Vietnam’s last imperial dynasty.
After a delightful lunch at a local restaurant, the afternoon unfolds with a cycle along the enchanting Perfume River, taking you to the An Hien Garden House, a traditional residence adorned with flowering plants and fruit trees. Your ride continues to the iconic Thien Mu Pagoda, home to the remarkable seven-storey Phuoc Duyen Tower and a vibrant monastic community. Here, you will learn about the temple’s vital role in Vietnamese Buddhism and view the historic car used by Thich Quang Duc during his self-immolation in Saigon in 1963.
Concluding your day, board a Dragon Boat for a leisurely cruise along the Perfume River, allowing you to savor the tranquil scenery as the sun begins to set, casting a golden glow over the water. Upon your return to the pier, cycle back to your hotel, reflecting on a day filled with culture, history, and breathtaking landscapes.
