Hoi An Farming & Fishing Experience

Your adventure begins as your guide meets you at your hotel, ready to whisk you away to Jack Tran’s biking point. From there, you will embark on a delightful cycling journey to a local farming village, traversing charming country roads for approximately 45 minutes, covering a distance of 5 to 6 kilometers.

Upon arrival, you will have the opportunity to engage in the daily routines of local farmers. Experience the joy of hoeing the soil, watering vegetables in an organic herb garden, and even riding water buffalo in the fields. Capture the essence of rural life as you learn about rice cultivation and breathe in the fresh, invigorating air of the countryside.

Next, you will board Jack Tran’s boat, where you can indulge in a selection of fresh fruit and cake, accompanied by a cup of tea or coffee. As you cruise towards the river's mouth, where it meets the Cua Dai Sea, the scenic views will captivate your senses.

Join local fishermen on the river for a hands-on experience with traditional fishing methods, including the use of round nets and cast nets. Immerse yourself in the cultural richness of the region as you enjoy folk music, specifically the enchanting melodies of Bả Trạo, performed by the fishermen.

Your adventure continues as you learn to paddle the unique Vietnamese bamboo basket boats, taking part in a lively basket boat dance led by Jack Tran’s crew. As you navigate the tranquil waterways, flanked by coconut palms, listen to stories of the past, recounting the extreme conditions faced by soldiers during the war.

In a creative twist, you will also have the chance to craft origami creations from palm leaves, such as grasshoppers, birds, rings, sunglasses, and bracelets, adding a personal touch to your experience.

After a day filled with exploration and cultural immersion, you will return to Jack Tran’s boat for a satisfying lunch, complemented by a cold beer or soft drink. Finally, you will be transported back to your hotel in a comfortable mini-van, concluding an unforgettable day of farming and fishing.

Destination Information

Hoi An

Hoi An is a compact town set along the gentle curves of the Thu Bon River in Vietnam’s central coastal region, where narrow streets and low-rise buildings create an intimate urban fabric shaped by centuries of trade and cultural exchange. Its architecture reflects a blend of local and foreign influences, with wooden shop houses and tiled roofs lining quiet lanes that invite slow exploration. The town’s scale and layout encourage a pedestrian pace, fostering a close connection between everyday life and the preserved historic environment. Traditional crafts remain part of daily activity, visible in workshops where artisans shape lanterns that light the streets after dusk, adding a warm, tangible element to the town’s atmosphere. The Japanese Covered Bridge, a distinctive structure linking parts of the old quarter, exemplifies the layering of cultural influences and the integration of functional design with aesthetic detail. Beyond the built environment, the nearby river and coastal landscape contribute to Hoi An’s character, grounding it in a region known for its fertile plains and maritime heritage. This combination of architectural heritage, artisanal practice, and natural setting defines Hoi An’s appeal as a place where history and local life coexist closely.
