2 Days 1 Night Bako National Park

Day 1 – Arrival at Bako National Park

Your journey begins with a morning departure to Bako National Park, where a scenic half-hour ride leads you to the charming fishing village of Bako. Here, you will board a boat that takes you to the park headquarters, setting the stage for an unforgettable experience in Sarawak's oldest gazetted national park. Spanning 16 square kilometers, Bako is a treasure trove of primary forests, showcasing seven distinct ecosystems including beach vegetation, mangroves, and heath forests. The coastline, shaped by millions of years of erosion, features stunning cliff faces, sandstone formations, and pristine sandy beaches that create a unique geographical landscape.

As you explore, keep your eyes peeled for the park's diverse wildlife. You may encounter the playful long-tailed macaques, the elusive silver leaf monkeys, and the rare proboscis monkeys, known for their distinctive features. Other inhabitants include flying lemurs, mouse deer, and various species of bats. While sightings cannot be guaranteed, your guide will help tailor your exploration based on your interests, ensuring you make the most of your time in this natural wonder.

As night falls, embark on a captivating night walk to discover the park's nocturnal residents, including flying lemurs and tarsiers. While wildlife encounters are unpredictable, the experience of being immersed in the sounds and sights of the night is truly magical. After a day filled with adventure, enjoy lunch and dinner at the park canteen before settling in for the night at the Park Guesthouse, where basic amenities await you, providing a cozy retreat amidst nature.

Day 2 – Morning Exploration

Awaken to the sounds of nature and start your day with breakfast at the Park Canteen. An overnight stay in the park allows you ample time to delve deeper into its wonders. If you missed the chance to see the proboscis monkeys the previous evening, seize the opportunity for an early morning trek to witness them as they begin their day, foraging along the riverbanks. Spend the rest of the morning exploring more of Bako's enchanting landscapes and diverse ecosystems. After a fulfilling morning, savor lunch at the Park Canteen before returning to the city, filled with memories of your remarkable adventure in Bako National Park.
