Heho airport pick up and Inle Lake boat sightseeing

Upon your arrival at Heho airport, you will be greeted and transferred to Nyaung Shwe. Once you reach Nyaung Shwe, embark on a private longtail boat to immerse yourself in the enchanting allure of Inle Lake. Spanning over 20 kilometers in length and more than 10 kilometers in width, the lake sits at an elevation of 875 meters above sea level, with its tranquil waters beautifully contrasting against the majestic high hills that form a stunning backdrop.

Your first stop will be Nga Phe Kyaung, a site renowned for its impressive collection of Buddha images crafted from various materials and presented in an array of styles and sizes. Following this, you will visit the revered Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda, the most sacred religious site in southern Shan State. Here, you will find five uniquely shaped and gilded Buddha images, which are traditionally paraded around the lake during the annual Inle Boat Procession held in September or October.

Next, you will transfer to Mine Thauk Bridge, where you can marvel at the unique village of Maing Thauk. This picturesque settlement is divided, with one half built on dry land and the other half perched on stilts over the water, connected to the shore by a 450-yard wooden bridge. Finally, your day will conclude with a transfer back to your hotel, reflecting on the day's memorable experiences.

Destination Information

Inle Lake

Inle Lake is a distinctive freshwater body nestled within Shan State, defined by its tranquil waters and the unique communities that inhabit its shores and floating islands. The lake’s surface is dotted with stilted villages and gardens, where local residents cultivate crops on floating beds of vegetation, creating a landscape that blends human ingenuity with natural surroundings. Life here moves at a measured pace, shaped by the rhythms of fishing and farming practiced by the Intha people, whose traditional leg-rowing technique is a familiar sight. The lake’s cultural fabric is further enriched by the presence of significant religious sites, including the Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda, which draws both local worshippers and visitors. The surrounding hills and the expanse of water together form a setting where everyday activities unfold in close relationship with the environment. This combination of distinctive aquatic settlements, agricultural methods, and spiritual landmarks offers a clear window into the region’s way of life, setting Inle Lake apart from other parts of Myanmar.
